Kaduna Electricity Company gets new Director

The Board of Directors of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) has approved the appointment of Alhaji Garba Yusuf Imam as an independent Non-Executive Director of the company.

A statement issued by the Cooperate Communication Officer, Mallam Mohammed Idris, on Sunday said the appointment is in compliance with the provision of the law and guidelines of the Nigerian electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

He said: “The Board Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar while announcing the appointment during the Board’s meeting on Friday, 20th March, 2015, described Alhaji Garba Imam as a seasoned administrator and a financial expert of international repute.

“The Chairman called on the new Director to bring his vast knowledge and wealth of experience to bear on his assignment.”

A one-time Executive Director in charge of Corporate Banking and South, Northern Region Business and Abuja, Operations and Management Services-North in Sterling Bank PLC, Alhaji Imam has over thirty years experience in banking, financial management and policy development. He was also at a point in time a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board Risk Management Committee of Enterprise Bank Ltd. He has also held various positions in both public and private sectors.

Alhaji Imam is a member of many national and international professional bodies amongst whom are: Member, Development Studies Association(DSA), Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK; Fellow, Chartered Management Institute, UK; Honourary Senior Member, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria; Member, Institute of Directors, Nigeria and UK to mention a few.

He has travelled extensively in Europe, Middle East, USA, Far East and many African countries, and is married and blessed with children.

The decision of the Board on the appointment of Alhaji Imam has been forwarded to NERC.

Other members of the Board includes, Yusuf Hamisu Abubakar (Chairman), Engr. Garba Haruna (MD/CEO), Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna, Alhaji Tajudeen A Dantata, Alhaji Hassan A Dantata, Alhaji Muhammad Mussadiq Adamu and Hajiya Rabi Ahmed representing BPE.
