2015 Polls: PDP not afraid of card reader, says Sambo

Vice President Namadi Sambo has said Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) does not entertain any fear over the 2015 general elections, adding that the party would definitely win the polls.

Sambo, who addressed journalists in Kano yesterday, dwelt extensively on the developmental achievements of President Jonathan, and challenged the opposition to fault the success stories attributed to the ruling party since 2011.

He said the federal government has performed credibly well in the area of education, agriculture, transportation, economy, power, curbing corruption, and addressing the problems of insecurity and employment.

The running mate to the PDP presidential standard bearer also debunked the suggestion in certain quarters that PDP is not happy with the use of card-reader machine during the 2015 general election.

According to him, the party is not jittery over any arrangement put in place by the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) for the conduct of a free, fair and credible election.

“One thing I will like to tell you is that PDP is not afraid of anything; not even card reader. We are not afraid of anything. PDP is a party of Nigeria, PDP is Nigeria.

You go to every local government, every ward, polling unit, PDP has a system. It has a chairman, a secretary, at least 12 members of the executive. “So, we are everywhere and there is no party like PDP; PDP has remained as PDP since 1998 till date.

We never changed our colour or name. We are the party for Nigeria and we are Nigerians. So, please, don’t even go to that area of fear.

“The PDP, definitely, is going to win the election and need I remind you that the issue of free and fair election has been the promotion of the Goodluck Jonathan administration.

In 2011, he stated that we must have a credible, free and fair election in Nigeria; that we must have one man, one vote; one woman, one vote; and one youth, one vote.

“It is the first time that all Nigerians came out and were sleeping till the early hours of the day just to make sure that they get their card, and this is what we are promoting continuously.

The issue here and all that PDP is saying is that, let us be fair and ensure there is nothing wrong with the card reader,” he said.
