The Department of State Services (DSS) yesterday restored the security aides to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
The Speaker’s security aides were withdrawn on November 3, 2014 shortly after his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba was the first to withdraw his men on October 30, on the ground that Tambuwal had, by his defection, lost his position as speaker based on the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
The Police are, however, yet to restore staff attached to the speaker.
Special Adviser on Media to the Speaker, Imam Imam confirmed the development. He told Daily Sun that his boss returned from a campaign tour yesterday and met the DSS aides.
“I can confirm to you that DSS staff attached to my boss have returned. We saw them when we returned from our campaign in the morning yesterday,” he said.
Asked if the number of security aides that resumed work were the same figure that were withdrawn he answered in the affirmative.
