Ughelli South PDP exco reconciles differences

The misunderstanding within the Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, which led to the alleged suspension of the chairman, Chief Francis Agwonigho, JP has been settled amicably.

A reliable source said the settlement was made possible by the state Deputy Governor, Prof Amos utuama, SAN, the leader of the party in the area.

It was learnt that he brokered the peace about two weeks ago in his Otu Jeremi country home.

According to the source close to the meeting, the Deputy Governor counseled the members of the executive of the party to sheath their swords in the interest of the party, considering the fact that elections are just around the corner to enable the party face the challenges of the election as a united, strong family.

It would be recalled that the Vice Chairman, Chief Obawharhe Gbagbeke and the Treasurer had in January announced the suspension of Chief Agwonigho on account of alleged fraudulent and misappropriation of funds in the running of the party, a charge Agwonigho denied.

The chairman had told the gathering that the allegations were spurious and had demanded a retraction, saying there was nothing of the sort.

The chairman, it was learnt, had called a meeting of the council immediately after the allegation and 21 out of the 29 member executive council absolved him of any wrong doing and passed a vote of confidence on him.

The source assured that with the settlement of the matter, the party is poised to win the coming elections for the party.
