Former Super Eagles defender Moses Kpakor has tipped the present squad to lift the Africa Cup of Nations currently being contested for in South Africa.
The BCC Lions of Gboko legend is not making the prediction because the Stephen Keshi boys upset Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in Sunday’s quarter-final cliffhanger to set up a semi-final clash with the Eagles of Mali tomorrow in Durban.
“My eyes even before the Nations Cup began were strictly fixed on the trophy,” said Kpakor, presently Senior Coach (Football) at the Benue State University Makurdi in North-Central Nigeria. “I did not hide my confidence and optimism for an Eagles triumph in South Africa. I will be disappointed if we do not win. But I am convinced we have the best team in the 2013 tournament. My eyes are still eyeing a second Nations Cup on foreign land and a third overall,” he stated.
The hard-tackling defender disclosed that he did not celebrate the win over Ivory Coast.
“For me, I did not see any need to celebrate our win over the Ivorian Elephants because I was so convinced of and knew we were a better side. That’s why I said on (Emmanuel) Eboue’s tweet that when we finally beat them it will dawn on him that Victor Moses, Mikel Obi and the rest of the squad are not chicken. And the Eagles have clearly outclassed them and proved they are a better team,” Kpakor (shown in photo) further stated.
