Screen goddess Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

It has been celebration galore for screen goddess Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

Omosexy, as she is fondly called, is 25 years this month in the entertainment business, and she has been shouting this to whoever cares to listen on the social media.

The 42-year-old mother of four from Ondo State-born in Lagos stepped into Nigeria’s movie industry popularly known as Nollywood in May 1995, and since then it has been a jolly good ride for the Estate Management graduate from the Yaba College of Technology.

Omotola’s quarter of a century in the entertainment industry has been quite eventful. Beyond her show business accomplishments, she is also applauded for her remarkable humanitarian efforts.

Omotola is one of the pioneers of Nollywood, becoming one of the most watched actresses in Africa.

In the year 2013, she was honoured in Time Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People in the World alongside Michelle Obama, Beyoncé and Kate Middleton.

In the same year, she made a brief appearance in VH1’s scripted series, Hit the Floor.

On November 2, 2013, she spoke at that year’s edition of the WISE- Summit, held in Doha, Qatar.

In the year 2014, she was honoured by the Nigerian government as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic, MFR, for her contributions to Nigerian cinema.

Omotola married a pilot, Captain Matthew Ekeinde in 1996. The couple later held a white wedding ceremony on board a Dash 7 aircraft while flying from Lagos to Benin in 2001, with close family members and friends present.

Looking back past 25 years, Omotola who recently bagged an honorary doctorate degree from Igbinedion University, Edo State says,

“The things coming are way bigger than the things past. What would you love to see me still do? Say#25next.”

We are Maggie’s Blog are saying to Omosexy who is a friend of the house, keep exploring, Maama! #25next will surely be better.
