Murdered Warri youth Joseph Pessu
A Niger Delta human rights activist, Comrade Chief Mulade Sheriff, has urged Deltans to support the Delta State Government’s effort to curb the spread of the dreaded Coronavirus.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Warri on Thursday April 2, 2020, Chief Mulade who was recently conferred with the traditional title of “Ibe-sorimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom” (the Kingdom Lifter and the Hope of Society and Humanity), condemned the incident that led to the death of one Mr. Joseph Pessu in Warri, Delta State.
While sympathising with the family of the slain youth, Comrade Mulade urged Deltans to cooperate with security operatives during the 14 days stay at home, as everyone is duty bound to carry out government directives especially in enforcing the restriction of movement to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus into Delta State.
He also called for calm and urged security agents to discharge their duties professionally, as it is their responsibility to protect lives and property of Nigerians.
Comrade Mulade commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the measures put in place to ensure adequate security during the stay-at-home precautionary period, to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He appealed to Nigerians, particularly Deltans, to be vigilant and share useful information with relevant authorities, especially Government, security agencies to rid the state of criminally minded opportunists during the lockdown period.
