The Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial Zone, Ifeanyi Ubah, has raised a total N75m out of the N200m for the establishment of three centres for testing and treatment of persons infected with the Covid-19 virus.
Speaking to journalists at Nnewi, Ubah explained that the fundraising is directed towards the centres that are currently being established in the zone as well as his own contribution to the fight against the virus.
Ubah added that the money apart from being used to take care of the basic needs of the poor in the society will also provide medical assistance to the people of Anambra State.
On her part, Senator Uche Ekwunife representing Anambra Central has kicked off her own humanitarian activities in her zone with the distribution of preventive materials.
According to the Special Assistant to Senator Ekwunife on Media, Mr Kingsley Ubani, “Today, her team visited more communities within the Senatorial District to sensitise constituents on the Covid-19 pandemic, and distribute relief and preventive materials to the people.”
Ubani, who spoke to journalists in Awka, said the programme is targeted at creating awareness about the virus, and bringing succour to constituents.
Some of the items being distributed include bags of rice, hand sanitisers, face masks, hand gloves and sensitisation handbills.
