The Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) has embarked on a tour of communities in the oil producing areas of Imo State, sensitising them on practical ways to avoid contracting the rampaging Corona virus, otherwise called COVID-19.
This is against the backdrop of the recent state-wide broadcast by the stated Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on government's efforts in containing this deadly pandemic.
Head of ISOPADEC, Dame Elsie Tagbo Okafor, hinting on the imperatives of the tour, on Sunday, said the Commission must at all times be responsive to the concerns of her people, especially on the area health.
She explained that Commission would leave no stone unturned, and shall engage community town criers in other to drive the message home just as Governor Uzodimma has directed.
Speaking also on the visit, ISOPADEC Director of Health, Dr. Kelechi Muforo, assured that “the Commission, as an accountable government agency, shall relentlessly pursue this enlightenment programme because health, they say, is health.”
The Health Director therefore enjoined all communities in the oil producing areas to feel free to call designated government help-lines given to them so that the battle against this ravaging pandemic would be won.
In their separate reactions, Eze Ikegwuruka, Eze Nani and Eze Assor lauded Governor Uzodimma for taking definite measures to forestall the outbreak of COVID-19 in the state.
While expressing optimism that the state is in for pleasant surprises under Senator Uzodimma as governor, the Royal Highness thanked ISOPADEC for being in the frontline of all government agencies in the war against COVID-19, even as they asked Commission not to relent.
They assured of collaborating with ISOPADEC so that COVID-19 preventive measures would get to the nooks and crannies of every community in Ohaji-Egbema and Oguta LGAs.
In ISOPADEC team on the sensitisation tour were Head of Commission and Legal Director Dame Okafor, Head of Medical Department Dr. Kelechi Muforo, Head of Admin and Finance Mrs. Macaulay Ifunanya Onwusoro, and Mr. Kenneth Irechukwu Head of Area Office, Ohaji-Egbema.
