Suspected child defiler Raphael Mbanyereudo, aka Papa Okoye
A 75-year-old septuagenarian, Raphael Mbanyereudo (a.k.a Papa Okoye) has been arrested by police operatives attached to the Okija Division in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State for allegedly defiling two girls aged two and four years respectively.
News Express gathered that the dastardly act was discovered by the children’s mother when she saw her children crying and holding their private parts.
On examination, she discovered the water coming out of their private parts were reddish as well, an indication of blood from a wound.
A statement by the state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed, read in part: “On the March 17, 2020 at about 11:am, following a formal complaint, Police operatives attached to Okija Division arrested one Raphael Mbanyereude, (alias Papa Okoye) aged 75 years old.
“The suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of two minors all females, aged two and four years respectively (children of same parents).
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. John B. Abang, has ordered for immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for discreet investigation after which (the) suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.
“The CP equally enjoined parents to strictly monitor their children in order to avert similar ugly incidents.”
While stating that the suspect has voluntarily confessed to the crime, Mohammed said that the victims were also taken to the hospital for medical examination where laceration of their hymen was confirmed.
