Ikechukwu Amaechi
The mother of seasoned journalist and media entrepreneur, Ikechukwu Amaechi, has regained freedom from her abductors.
Mrs. Appolonia Amaechi, 79, and retired teacher, was abducted from her home at Obohia, Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.
The gunmen who kidnapped her later called to demand a ransom payment of N20 million before her release.
“She has been released, Mr. Amaechi, Publisher of the Lagos-based TheNiche newspaper, toldNews Expresson Saturday evening.
“She was released this morning,” he disclosed without disclosing if any ransom was paid.
