Prophet Otukwu
The General Supervisor of ThankGod Awaited Liberation Ministry, Ikeja, Lagos, Prophet Francis Otukwu, has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to heed various appeals from leading members of society nationwide and review the security architecture to address the worsening insecurity in the country.
The Prophet stated this last Sunday, at its Ascencion Day celebration service, with the theme, “If you remain in me ….” taken from John 15:7, commemorating the 11th anniversary of the transition of its Founder ThankGod Chukwuma, which was observed on the due date, Tuesday February 25.
Stressing the need to back faith Christ with action, the Cleric said that there is an urgent need for the President go beyond pledges to taking necessary actions to review the nation’s security apparatus against the backdrop of increasing death of civiliansin the hands of Boko Haram terrorists, pervasive banditry in the North-west, failure of the security agents to contain the violent activities of the herdsmen in the Middle belt and Southern states and persisting incidence of kidnapping nationwide.
Prophet Otukwu noted that such a review cannot be effective with the current service chiefs whose terms have since expired and Nigerians seek their replacement, given their disappointing performance so far. There cannot be change of strategy while the old still remain on the saddle. “It will be like putting a new wine in an old wine keg; and it will certainly not achieve the desired result.”
Pleading with the president to put sentiments aside, he added: “Look at the situation in Kaduna State where about 50 people were killed in the current raid; Katsina State where about a week ago many lives were lost to bandit attacks, and Niger State which unimpressed with the performance of the security agencies, the government took a radical step of engaging native spiritualist and local hunters to help fight the menace.
“If the bloodletting must stop, the Federal Government must take an urgent step changing its operational strategy, and this can only be achieved by engaging fresh hands at the helms of the relevant security outfits.”
