The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has confiscated 60 drums of adulterated fuel along the bank of River Niger in Onitsha.

The commander also disclosed that his men recovered a truck with Lagos registration number XL 166 APP carrying the consignment at 3am last Saturday.

“The anti-vandals department went out last Saturday with the arms given to us by the Federal Government after we received information on the activities of the vandals. The presence of the armed operatives of the Corps chased away the vandals who abandoned 60 drums of adulterated fuel and the truck while off loading the products,” Ochogwu said yesterday.

He explained that the truck load of products was has been detained at its headquaters in Awka since Sunday together with a drivers’ license recovered in the process.

“Since the vandals decided to run away, we have towed their vehicle to Awka. Whoever owns the truck should report to Civil Defense Office headquarters in Awka to make claims,” Ochogwu added.

The commander, who is barely two months old in the state, promised to eliminate the activities of vandals.

He announced plans to meet with traditional rulers in the state to enlighten them on the nefarious activities of vandals “so that with their assistance, we can carry out effective surveillance and other function.”
