Nigeria For Democracy has condemned “in strongest terms, the attack and killing of thirty Nigerians, including women and children, in Auno, Borno State on Sunday, 9th February, 2020 allegedly by Boko Haram.”

“These killings magnify the failure of the Nigerian State to protect its citizens. It should be noted that the innocent Nigerians who were killed, were stranded in the city of Auno due to the closure of the gates of the City of Maiduguri by the Nigerian Military. They were consequently trapped by Boko Haram and burnt alive in the dead of the night while they slept in their cars, pending the opening of the gates.

“Unfortunately, this is the tenth attack on the city of Auno, a city that is less than ten

kilometres from the Airport and air force base in Maiduguri,” Nigeria For Democracy said in a recent statement signed by the National Chairman, Dr. Asukwo Mendie Archibong Esq., the party’s Presidential Candidate during the 2019 elections.

While condoling the bereaved families, the people and government of Borno State, the party said: “It is now obvious that the courage and sacrifice of our gallant soldiers is no longer sufficient in the fight to preserve the lives of Nigerians. We therefore demand better training,

equipment and intelligence for our military. Most significantly we demand for everything that

will ensure that the lives of Nigerians are protected. It is now time to take the fight to the

enemy. It is now time to win this war once and for all.”
