Gov Dapo Abiodun
The Ogun State government has explained why Governor Dapo Abiodun was yet to occupy the Government House, Abeokuta, nine months after assumption of office.
Abiodun has been staying at his Iperu Remo private residence, 45 kilometres away from Abeokuta, the state capital, and shuttles daily to the Governor’s Office to perform his official duties, thereby raising speculations from members of the public.
But the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Remmy Hassan saidthat it was not only the governor that was yet to occupy his official residence but also his Deputy, Noimot Salako, and the commissioners.
“All residences of government officials in the state are going through renovations due to old age,” explained Hassan in a telephone interview.
He mentioned such quarters to include that of the legislators, commissioners, and judiciary, among others.
“As at now, the Deputy Governor also is yet to occupy her official residence because it is not proper for any of those involved to stay in the residences while the renovation is going on,” he added.
He stated that it was not convenient for the Governor to becoming daily from his Iperu home to Abeokuta, noting that it was a sacrifice he had to make.
According to Hassan, the renovation of the affected quarters would be completed soon for the officials to move in.
