The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in collaboration with the Kebbi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), have staged a statewide rally aimed at seeking general public support to the fight against corruption nationwide.
The state Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Gidado Kaliel, addressed 500 NYSC members and secondary school students, who participated in the rally inBirnin Kebbi on Friday.
He said the fight against corruption is a collective responsibility to all nation.
He said it is encouraging to see youth and students focusing toward the direction of rebranding the minds of people to shun corruption in their place of work and even in there domains nationwide.
“We should put it back of our minds that the campaign against corruption in this country.It is not the statutory responsibility ofEFCC and ICPC to fight our it alone; it is the responsibility of all,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the campaign against corruption would serve as a booster to the Federal Governmenteffort in the fightingcorruption crusade in the country .
"President Muhammadu Buhari has already set-up an agenda in the fighting the crusade, and the government of the federationcannot do it alone,we mostto join hands to assistgovernmentsand complement its effort towards achievingthe aims and objectivesof being freecorrupt country," hesaid.
Also, the Coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad, expressed that, the walk against corruption was to complement the efforts of anti -graft agencies in the fight against the corrupt practices in the country.
"We have engaged over 500 corps members in this exercise and different Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) across the state.
"We urge you to take the campaign to markets, motor parks, recreational centres, schools and important public places in order to ensure the total compliance of vows walksagainstthe rampant corruption in our dear country Nigeria that becomes as an epidemic to the corrupt people," State NYSC coordinator urged.
Earlier speaking, the Representative of thezonal head of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara EFCC office, Mr . Chinedu Ozugha, said that the exercise would serve as a platform to sensitise and mobilise the youths to rejectsthe evil of corruption as well as enable them to take ownership of the crusade nationwide.
"You should take the fight to the grassroots and make sure that the corruption reduces to the barest minimal," he said.
He expressed happiness over the large numbersof NYSC in creating an innovative approach,for their deep concern in the anti-corruption crusadein Kebbi State.
Ozugha, who represented head of zonal office Sokoto, Lawal Abdullahi, appreciated commissioners of youth and sports development, information and cultureand also the NYSC state coordinator.
