Senior Pastor of The Glow Christian Church, McFlanigal Uche Uduji
The Senior Pastor of The Glow Christian Church, McFlanigal Uche Uduji, has berated the Federal Government for not doing enough to curb the insecurity in the country which has led to the death of many Nigerians in recent times, even as he welcomes the idea of South-West security outfit, Amotekun and other community policing structures being proposed by some other regions in the country.
The cleric who made the position known in an interview in Lagos said that the new policing idea being put in place by some of the governors is a good development, especially when the Federal Government cannot guarantee the safety of lives and properties of the people judging by the high insecurity level in the country.
“The time has come for us to tell ourselves the truth, which is that the high rate of insecurity in the country boils down to one fact: that the Federal Government has failed in its responsibility of guaranteeing the security of lives and properties of her citizens, and if that is the case then the people have the right to protect themselves. That is why I have always said that state police is the way to go and with the Amotekun being launched, at least the South-west leaders can protect themselves instead of relying on the Federal Government which may not come through,” he said.
He wondered why the insecurity situation in the country was left to degenerate to its present state despite the repeated warnings from different quarters even as he said that he was not surprised because, according to him, the present administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari has not given him much hope for the country in terms of administrative direction.
Instead, he said: “The government was busy spending time chasing members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) when the real enemy of the country is the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
“Except the definition of terrorism in Nigeria is different from that of the world all over, otherwise the proscription of IPOB as a terrorist group is nothing especially if the members can go before international community and protest and be heard and not be arrested by their host, whereas, Boko Haram members cannot do the same. So, we should know the real enemy of the country here and know how to channel our resources to fight the insurgency.”
Continuing, the Imo State-born cleric said: “Am not an historian, but I know that, even the creation of Nigeria was a fraud, which was handed down to us by our colonial leaders, which seemed not to be working.
“So, if we want to continue existing as a country, we must come together and redefine our affairs for the good of all,” Pastor Uduji noted.
