FRSC Academy Commandant Charles Akpabio
The Commandant of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Academy in Udi, Enugu State, Mr. Charles Akpabio, has urged newly promoted officers and marshals to be committed in carrying out their duties.
Akpabio, who is also an Assistant Corps Marshal, gave the charge while decorating 37 personnel of the academy to their new ranks in Udi near Enugu on Tuesday.
He noted that “road safety is a shared responsibility” and “officers and marshals must lead by redoubling their efforts and showing good examples at all time”.
The Commandant thanked the FRSC Corps Marshal, Mr. Boboye Oyeyemi, for promoting such a number in the academy in a single time, adding: “This is the first time we are witnessing this number of newly promoted personnel in this academic.”
According to him, the Corps Marshal value and appreciate the work and sacrifice of officers and marshals of the corps, which necessitated the unprecedented number of staff being promoted the same time.
“Know that you have been promoted; and we expect more from you; since to whom much is given, much is expected. The Corps Marshal wants you to improve on the level of the success of the Academy and focus all you have both emotionally, technically and physically on road crashes reduction.
“As we know, road crashes does not respect anybody and nobody have immunity over getting involved in road crushes. We must do everything possible to avoid road crashes and reduced it to the barest minimum, which is the vision of the Corps Marshal,” he said.
He, however, called on all staff to put in their best all the time, “so that you will be surely rewarded.”
In her welcome address, the Registrar of the Academy, Mrs. Cecilia Alao, congratulated the newly promoted officers and marshals, while urging them to live up to their new ranks.
“I also commend the Corps Marshal for boosting the morale of the officers and marshals through the promotion,” Alao, who is also a Core Commander in FRSC, said.
Responding, Mrs Ify Omeke, newly promoted and decorated to Assistant Core Commander of FRSC, thanked God, the Corps Marshal and FRSC management for the promotion.
“I assure you that we will put in our best to justify the confidence repose on us that led to the promotion,” Omeke, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted and decorated, said.
A total of 37 personnel were decorated with their new ranks, which included; 13 officers, three inspectors and 21 road marshal assistants.
