The Anambra State Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, Mr. John B. Abang, has decorated 22 Senior Police Officers from the ranks of Superintendent to Chief Superintendents out of the 30 officers who benefited from the promotion exercise of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
This is coming on the heels of the recent approval by the PSC for the promotion of senior police officers on the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu.
Also decorated were eight other officers made up of two deputy Commissioners of Police and Six Assistant Commissioners of Police from the Command who were equally decorated at Zone 9 headquarters, Umuahia by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the zone, AIG Baba Tijjani.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Haruna Mohammed, some of the officers promoted from ACP to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police include Nicodemus Ihesiaba Ihueze and Salihu S. Abdulkahi to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
Others were ACP Christopher Bassey Uweh, ACP Daniel N. Uke, ACP Uchenna B. Ani, ACP Innocent Oguejiofor Umerie,ACP Olufemi Olabanji Kayode, and ACP Sunday Okpa Irek.
While six police officers were promoted to the rank of ACP, 21 were promoted from the rank of CSP to the rank of ACP.
Mohammed said the promotion is in line with the IGP's resolve towards boosting the morale of Police officers for effective service delivery. It is also based on merit, clean records of Service, seniority and dedication to duty.
The CP urged the decorated officers to reciprocate the gesture done to them by the IGP by redoubling their efforts towards discharging their duties in accordance with internationally acceptable best practices.
He warned them to desist from corrupt practices, professional misconducts and incivility to members of the Public.
CSP Samuel Anyaehe Nwachukwu, who spoke on behalf of the newly promoted officers, thanked the IGP and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of thispromotion and also promised to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties professionally.
