The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of Oluebubechukwu Isaac, an indigene of Osile, Ogbunike in Oyi Local Government Area of the state, for alleged stealing.

The 20-year-old suspect was arrested following a distress call and a joint operation of police operatives attached to Operation Kpochapu 2 Ogbunike Division and a Vigilante group in the area.

News Express learnt that the suspect and his accomplice allegedly attacked a barbing salon located at No. 3 Olisakwe Crescent and robbed all the customers of their handsets, jewelleries and other valuables at gunpoint.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that suspects have voluntarily confessed to the crime and would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.

He said: “On the 29/11/2019 at about 8:10 pm following a distress call, Police operatives attached to Operations Kpochakpu II Obunike Division and Otuocha Area Command in conjunction with Vigilante group arrested one Oluebubechukwu Isaac ‘m’ aged 20 years of Azu Ogbunike and Ekezie Ifeanyi ‘m’ aged 19 years of Osile Ogbunike village all in Oyi LGA of Anambra State.

“Exhibits recovered in their possession includes one locally made revolver pistol, two wrist watches, one gold coloured Infinix phone, one white coloured Lovona phone, one black power bank, one gold plated necklace and one Malaysian bag.

“Consequently, suspects have confessed to the crime voluntarily and would be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”
