Key Traditional Rulers drawn from the six states of South South geopolitical zone of Nigeria have concluded plans to converge in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital for a crucial security summit.
Scheduled to hold on Monday, December 2, 2019 through Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo the summit has the theme: Creating Synergy with the Governments of South South States towards ensuring a peaceful and Crime-free South South Geopolitical zone.”
A press release signed by the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, His Royal Majesty, Edidem Raymond Timothy Inyang, Paramount Ruler of Onna LGA, the conference, which is jointly organized by South South Monarchs Forum in collaboration with the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN), will have the presence of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha as Distinguished Guest of Honour.
The epoch event, which has His Eminence, Nteyin (Dr.) Solomon Daniel Etuk, JP, the Oku Ibom Ibibio and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Council of Chiefs as the chief host, will attract Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare 11, Obong of Calabar, His Eminence, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi V; King Dandeson Douglas Jaja ll, Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom and Chairman, Rivers State Council of Chiefs and all paramount rulers within the South South geo-political zone.
The press release notes that other eminent royal fathers to attend are His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, Sultan of Sokoto, who is the Chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria; His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, Co-Chairman, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, and His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (DR.) Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, Etsu Nupe, Chairman, Co-coordinating Committee, National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria.
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his Counterparts from Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta and Cross River State will deliver goodwill message at the summit.
The summit’s Keynote address will be presented by Dr. Ubong Essien Umoh, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of History, Consultant and Military Historian, University of Uyo.
It further states that the Chairman of South South Monarchs Forum, His Royal Majesty, King Edmond Daukoru Mingi XII, Amanayanabo of Nembe Kingdom is expected to lead the plenary session of the summit.
Also, reports on the activities of South South Monarchs Forum will be given coupled with paper presentations and general review of the security summit. (Sunday Independent)
