Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi
Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State Wednesday announced the suspension of salaries of civil servants and political appointees for the months of November and December 2019 over failure of some of them to have correct bank verification numbers.
Umahi spoke when the management of Ebonyi State branch of Central Bank of Nigeria led by the Controller, Adayi Chris Onah, paid him a courtesy call at the Executive Council Chambers, Abakaliki.
He added that anybody who did not have BVN should not expect salary at all, until such a person complied with the state directive.
“Anybody that doesn’t have BVN should not expect salary. No BVN, no salary. The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe, has BVN, and I have BVN. So, any political appointee that doesn’t have BVN shouldn’t expect salary.
“Any civil servant that doesn’t have BVN, or have incomplete BVN or gave us wrong BVN shouldn’t expect salary. We have noted that and will not pay such people salary until they have BVN. (Daily Independent)
