The General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj-Gen Lasisi Adegboye, has urged new Brigadier-Generals in the Division to redouble their efforts.
Adegboye gave the charge on Wednesday in Enugu while decorating three newly promoted Brigadier-Generals in the Division with their new ranks.
The newly decorated officers are Brig-Gen. Mohammed Auta, Commandant of Command Secondary School, Abakaliki; Brig-Gen. Yakubu Bwala, Commander 302 Artillery Regiment and Gun Support, Onitsha; and Brig-Gen. Garba Muhammed, Commander, 82 Division Finance and Account.
The GOC urged them to “strive to attain and drive the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Burutai, in their various commands and unity.”
“You must pursue the vision of the COAS with zeal and commitment it deserves and always uphold the constitution in all your actions,” he said.
Adegboye also said that promotion comes from God, adding that they must justify the confidence repose on them.
“I will urge you to put in more hard work since the reward for hard work is more work. There is no short cut to success and to move on to higher rank than hard work, being proactive and inventive.
“At this stage, you are now to be policy makers and problem solvers and not implementing officers any longer,” he said.
In a remark on behalf of older Brigadier-Generals of the Division, Brig-Gen. Sylvester Oloyede, urged the newly decorated Brigadiers-General to keep up with the good work and ensure they keep on with renewed zeal for the job.
“I must congratulate you people since it is not easy to get to this height. Congratulations,” Oloyede said.
Brig.-Gen. Garba Muhammed, who spoke on behalf of the newly decorated Brigadier-Generals, thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the COAS for making the promotion possible.
“We are indeed grateful for the promotion and decoration today and we assure the Nigerian Army of our continuous loyalty and commitment to serve the nation,” Muhammed said.
The event also witnessed the decoration of Lt. Khalid Ali; Lt. Emmanuel Owoyonu and Lt. Aliyu Shettima.
