Governor Umahi
The Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, has won the award of the best performing governor of the year 2019 by Business Day Media.
The award was conferred on the Governor on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
Business Day Newspaper had nominated four best-performing governors from all the 36 states and they were put forward for the public to criticise and make their final decision on whom the cap fits.
As a result of the popular opinion, Governor David Nweze Umahi emerged the best.
The basis of the award is that Governor Umahi’s projects, policies and programmes have given a noticeable and enviable facelift to every sector of the state economy.
From urban and rural infrastructural development to healthcare, education, tourism, agriculture, Ebonyi State now wears a new look.
The award was presented to Governor Umahi by former Head of State, Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon, GCFR.
The Governor while expressing happiness over the award, explained that the award will serve as charge on that will spur him to greater tasks of developing Ebonyi State.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Eric Kelechi Igwe, who took time to explain commitments to the onerous task of developing Ebonyi State, the awardee called on attendees to invest in Ebonyi saying things that engender business growth have been put in place by Governor Umahi.
News Expressrecalls that Governor Umahi had also won the best performing governor of the year 2018 by Leadership Newspaper, Governor of the year 2018 on Infrastructure by Authority Newspaper, and Governor of the year on Agriculture by New Telegraph Newspaper.
