Two trucks, on Sunday, were involved in an accident along Owerri/Onitsha Expressway by Tarzan junction, Onitsha.
The accident occurred when a truck with Registration number XG 624 DKA conveying diesel lost control and fell on another truck conveying goods heading towards the opposite direction thereby causing the diesel to spill on the road.
A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said that patrolteams and other security agencies responded promptly and Scene was effectively condoned off in order to avert any calamity.
He said that traffic was diverted to a safer direction while the Fire Service Department and other emergency response agencies were equally on ground.
Haruna said that the diesel was successfully trans-loaded by NUPENG officials without any casualty recorded even as he added that the situation was brought under control and obstructions cleared to enable free vehicular movements in the Area.
He said: “The Commissioner of Police CP John B. Abang, has ordered for a full scale investigation in order to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.”
