The Nigerian Army today, Saturday, November 16, 2019 took a comprehensive medical outreach to Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State as part of its ongoing Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1.
The Deputy Director Army Public Relations 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Col Aliyu Yusuf, said in a statement on Friday in Enugu that the medical outreach would be “comprehensive and massive”.
Yusuf said that the Nigerian Army through the Division had mobilised scores of medical and paramedic personnel to execute the medical outreach.
“As part of the activities lined up for the ongoing Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1, Sector 6 Abakaliki in Ebonyi State will be conducting it free medical Outreach for members of the public and indigenes of Afikpo North Local Government Area.
“The medical outreach is part of Civil-Military-Cooperation (CIMIC) in-line of activities for Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1 to offer humanitarian services to general public and the host community.
“This is also in line with the Chief of Army Staff vision to cater for the welfare of the host community,” he said.
The army spokesman said that as part of the medical outreach programme, professional medical personnel will be deployed at the venue to offered free medical treatment of various ailments.
He noted that the medical professionals would conduct free medical tests, as well as distributions of medical aids to children and adults.
“The activities will provide usual platform to further strengthen the long standing Civil Military Relations between the Army and its civil populace.
“The general public is hereby encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and avail themselves of this free medical service,” he said.
“Exercise Atilogwu Udo 1”, locally known as Dance of Peace, is meant to be used to carry out community services within the Division’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).
These services include sanitation, medical outreaches, clearing of drains, road construction, educational support and other social works.
