Anambra Fire Chief, Engr Martin Agility Agbili
Another tanker ladden with petrol, again, has fallen at Abba Junction, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
News Expressgathered that Tuesday’s accident, which recorded no casualty, happened following brake failure.
This makes it the fourth petrol ladden tanker that has fallen in the state within a short space of time.
While two caught fire, killing and destroying property worth millions of naira, two were without any fire incident or casualty.
An eyewitness who spoke on condition of anonymity said some of the petroleum products carried by the tanker spilled on the ground, but did not ignite fire.
He said that police personnel have cordoned off that part of the expressway, restricting movement, while some men of the Anambra State Fire Service were already on the standby, in case of incident of fire.
Confirming the incident, Head of Anambra State Fire Service, Engr. Martin Agility Agbili, said that he and his men were already at the scene of the accident.
He said the men of the Federal Road Safety Corps were already trying to tow the tanker out of the area.
Agbili called motorists to avoid using the road but take alternative route for the time being.
