Anambra House of Assembly passes 2015 Appropriation Bill

The Anambra State House of Assembly yesterday passed the 2015 Appropriation Bill of over N164 billion subject to amendment made in some sectoral allocations.

Presenting the report of the Finance and Appropriation Committee, the chairman of the committee, Hon. Nikky Ugochuchukwu, explained that after a thorough examination of the provisions in the budget, the estimated overhead cost was reduced from N282 million to N82m.

According to her, the overhead cost of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government was cut down to N755m from the original N855m while that of the Governor’s Office was increased from N16,774,382,600 to N17,740,382,600.

Hon. Ugochuchukwu also disclosed that the financial estimate for Anambra State Lands Information Management System was changed from N100m to N30m while the financial provision for completion/expansion of the ministry’s headquarters building was changed from N30m to N100m.

In her speech, Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwaebili, thanked the members for having worked assiduously towards the passage of the budget so early as to enable Governor Willie Obiano to implement them for the betterment of the state.

On his part, the lawmaker representing Orumba North, Hon. Romanus Obi, described the bill as the fastest to be passed, adding that it will go a long way in impacting positively in the overall development of the state.
