EKSU staff on a protest
Staff of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), on Friday, protested against what they alleged as non-payment of salaries and mysterious death of six staff members within two months.
The Sun reports that the protesters were members of Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU,) Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and NAAT.
Recall that in the same institution, on August 7 this year, PM News had reported that students shut down academic activities, as they protested over the arrest of ‘Yahoo Boys’ in the institution by men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The event occurred after the officials of the Anti-graft agency stormed the school this morning to arrest some students on the grounds of financial criminal offence.
The students left their academics and took to the surrounding towns to mount roadblocks and altered commercial activities for some hours.
