Naira Marley and Tacha
Tacha’s case was very different from Naira Marley’s.
Inasmuch Tacha’s recent abrupt ejection from the BBNaija house was also a national disgrace, Naira Marley’s was more heroic and revolutionary. I can remember how the entire yahoo and quick-rich sector of the populace stood strongly behind him.
All his management needed to make happen was his silence and support from other big names in the industry. And it was not long before his perceived attackers (bodies like the EFCC, Ruggedman, the FSARS, Nigerian judiciary and the entire Police Force) became objects of ridicule in the hands of the larger public.
Secondly, pity set in for Marley. So many people did not agree that he deserved the torture (they thought) he was getting in detention spurred by a simple song that didn’t even exactly state that he was involved in cybercrimes. It was very easy for people to view him as legendary.
But with Tacha, the case is a very delicate one.
Hers is as well a national disgrace, but with nothing heroic about it. There’s also no third party to blame (like the EFCC and the government as in the case of Naira Marley) concerning one’s body odour and arrogance. Hence, she bears the entire fault in her disqualification from the Big Brother Naija house.
Even though she perfectly fits into the slogan of Marlians (members of a pro-Naira movement) which spells “No Mannaz”, it doesn’t seem like Tacha is going to be getting any spontaneous forgiveness from the public, not after anti posts from major names like Zlatan and Mr. P of the defunct P-square. Leave out the “mouthed” multi-naira outpouring from the likes of Senator Dino Melaye and the rest.
I really don't envy her PR people at the moment. This is as difficult as giving the devil an acceptable branding in heaven. I hope they figure something out, for the sake of the Garden City babe’s career in show business.
For them, it has to be work 24/7; no leave, no transfer.
