Oodua group tackles OBJ for giving Jonathan poor marks

The Publicity Secretary of the Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, has led a group, Oodua Development Initiative (ODI), to express their displeasure over former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s comment against President Goodluck Jonathan administration, saying the former president had no moral right to parade himself as navigator and social crusaders.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, Odumakin, who is ODI Patron, noted that the latest comment by Obasanjo on Jonathan’s administration was a continuation of his vendatta, which he said, had become his trademark.

Accompanied by the group Publicity Secretary, Mr Ola Animashaun; Mr Jamiu Yusuf, Mr Gbola Bello, among others, Odumakin also noted that there were indeed challenges facing the country and Jonathan’s government, declared that Obasanjo could not be the conscience of the nation when his antecedents were clearly known to Nigerians.

He said: “There is no doubt that by now, Nigerian citizens are familiar with the fact that Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s comments and opinion are products of malice, vengeance and vendetta. it is not in the character of Chief Obasanjo to hold objective and patriot opinion.

“How can one situate his past comments on Chief Obafemi Awolowo, late MKO Abiola, Brigadier Benjamin Adekunle, Prof. Sam Aluko, Chief Bola Ige and a host of others.”

Odumakin said that Obasanjo for the eight years he spent in office as president of the country, failed to plant the nation’s seed of democracy on a solid ground.

According to him, Obasanjo’s democratic credentials were nothing to write home about, saying he violated the constitution at will through impeachment of former Governor Joshua Dariye and Rasidi Ladoja, among others.

Also, he recalled that Obasanjo mowed down communities, wondering how the former president had not become a ready candidate standing trial for gross human rights abuses before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
