Thirteen people have been confirmed dead and many others injured after a bomb exploded in a market in Azare Town, Bauchi State, North-East Nigeria.
Eyewitness accounts say the blast occurred at the Container Market where mobile phones are sold.
The attack came barely a week after an explosion killed scores of First Bank customers in the town withdrawing money from an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) at the local branch.
Yesterday’s attack was reportedly carried out by a female bomber, who forced her way into the market before detonating the bomb.
A source told Channels Television’s correspondent that angry youths at the market lynched a woman and another person believed to be masterminds of the blast.
Traders who sustained injury from the blast have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Azare Town.
Azare is located in the northern part of Bauchi State. It is about 200 kilometres away from the state capital and the second largest town in the state.
Azare has been severally attacked by terrorists since 2012 when Boko Haram activities began in the state.
Only last month, an explosion at Yankari Motor Park killed 13 people with several others injured.
In 2012, several commercial banks in the town were robbed and destroyed by terrorists in an overnight attack.
