The Federal Ministry of Transportation has replied the Freedom of Information (FOI) request made by an advocacy group, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), on the 2018 Capital Projects execution status in Kwara State.
The group had written the Ministry on April 8, 2019 via a letter ENetSuD/FOI/2018/FGP/01/11 to ask for financial and technical details of rehabilitation of terminal building, construction of retail shops for concessionaries, procurement and installation of conveyor belt, and rehabilitation of Hajj Terminal captured in the 2018 budget of Federal Government.
The Minister of Transportation, through a letter referenced MCA 0136/S.1/T15A/141, dated May 27, 2019 and signed by Bello Alkali, Deputy Director of Procurement, provided the information requested by ENetSuD.
In the response, the Ministry explained that the contract sum for the Rehabilitation of Terminal Building contracted to Archivisual Solution Ltd is N432 million and added that N9 million was budgeted for the project in 2018 but nothing was released or spent from the budgeted amount in that year, even though the project has been completed.
On the construction of retail shops for concessionaires contracted to Pinnatech Nigeria Ltd, he disclosed the contract sum as N254 million, and added that N103 million was budgeted for the project in 2018 out of which N67 million was released to and spent by the Ministry, making it 35percent complete.
On procurement and installation of conveyor belt contracted to Ogbosite International Nigeria Limited, he said the contract sum was N731 million but out of N111 million budgeted in 2018, nothing was released to or spent by the Ministry even though the project has been completed.
Finally, he said the contract sum for Rehabilitation of Hajj Terminal contracted to ARDC Nigeria Limited was N450 million, and that out of N250 million budgeted in 2018, nothing was also released to or spent by the Ministry even though the project has been completed.
While ENetSuD expressed appreciation over the response of the Ministry in compliance with the provisions of FOI Act, the advocacy group said it would still track the information provided and the projects execution status.
