The Coalition of South-East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) has lauded the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) for producing the first gasification plant that habituates organic waste to generate electricity.

Its President-General of the Coalition, Goodluck Ibem, said that the group is also happy with the institution for unveiling the first electricity car in the country, adding that the invention is laudable.

COSEYL is therefore soliciting financial assistance from the Federal Government to enable the institution embark on more research.

The group said that electricity power has constituted a major set-back in the industrialization of the country and as such believes that this alternative source of power supply would help boost electricity generation in the country if the project receives the required financial assistance from the Federal Government.

COSEYL wonders why an institution of such high repute is not offering Chemical Engineering, explaining that the situation is robbing the nation the immense services the course could have rendered.

It therefore called on the appropriate quarters to urgently address the situation.
