Managing Director, Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited (KRPC), Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed, has said that one of his major priorities is to transform the refinery plant in line with current technological developments.

Engineer Mohammed spoke yesterday when he received on courtesy call officials of Kaduna State Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ). He added that the KRPC would improve on the existing environment and make it healthier both for the host communities and the stakeholders in general.

The KRPC MD said there is nothing to hide about the operations of the company, stressing that its gates are wide open for all stakeholders who wish to obtain information about its activities.

He expressed happiness with journalists for partnering with the organisation and reporting its activities for the benefit of Nigerians, saying that newsmen should always feel free to make clarification about the activities of the company whenever the need arose.

Engr. Mohammed said: “We are working to improve on the assets we met on ground; we are going to transform the KRPC plant, and the entire business premises, and instill confidence in our staff.

“We are after continuous maintenance of our plant, and improve on the assets. We have impacted positively on our host communities, and since KRPC has the entire North as its stakeholders, we will touch on every life in the zone and the country at large.

“Gentlemen of the press, you are part and parcel of the KRPC. We will not hide any information about the KRPC from you. So feel free to come to make clarification about our activities whenever the need arises because we have nothing to hide. Our gates are wide open.

“In the race for excellence, there is no finishing line; we are always creating the best environment and offices that are homes from homes for our staff.”

Engr. Mohammed also pledged that the company would continue to empower youth from its host communities to engender industrial harmony.

He said that company had introduced a vocational skills programme tagged Youth Empowerment and Skills Acquisition Programme (YESAP) to provide relevant skills training to youth in various communities in the state. According to him, a total of 150 youths, currently on training in various skills, would graduate in December.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Mallam Garba Mohammed, urged the KRPC management to engage in interactive forum with the Chapel from time to time in order to strengthen the relationship with the media.

Mallam Mohammed expressed delight about proactive action taken by the company to sensitise the people, particularly the host communities, about Ebola Virus Disease during its outbreak in the country.

“We are here to introduce ourselves as the newly elected officials of the Correspondents Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna State,” he said, adding: “We would like to appeal to your management to partner with the media in order to build a better relationship in reporting your events.”
