The newly elected chairmen of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) have been inaugurated in Abia State amid fanfare by the State Working Committee (SWC) led by the state chairman, Hon. Nkem Okoro.
The State Legal Adviser, Barr. Grant Eboh, administered the oath-taking for 14 Local Government Areas chairmen after Ikwuano, Isialangwa North and Ukwa West LGAs were stood down. Hon. Okoro explained that the decision was to enable proper harmonization.
Those that were inaugurated are Hon. C. Ikeanumba (Aba North); Hon. Damian Okwaraibe (Aba Aba South); Hon. Orji Kalu Okorie (Arochukwu); Mr. Lawrence Chukwunuru (Bende); Hon. Peter Uzodinma (Isialangwa South); and Engr. Mike Ahiabuike (Isuikwuato).
The rest are Hon. Uzoma Emezuo (Obingwa); Hon. Kalu Mba Nwoke (Ohafia); Hon. Samuel Nkoro (Osisioma); Hon. Emeka Esiaba (Ugwunagbo); Hon. Onyebuchi Nnah (Ukwa East); Hon. Leonard Ogbonna (Umuahia North); Hon. Omerenma Ogbonna (Umuahia South); and Hon. Charles Orie (Umunneochi).
While performing the swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday at the party's secretariat, Umuahia, Hon. Okoro who described the chairmen as "fishers of men", charged them to assume responsibilities in their various local government areas by inaugurating without delay the newly elected ward executives.
He charged them on the task ahead which according to him includes the repositioning of APGA at the grassroots for greater and future political endeavours.
Hon. Okoro enjoined them to show utmost commitment, transparency and diligence while discharging their duties hence the present leadership of the party in Abia determined to enforce disciple and reward to hard work.
He commended members of the newly elected SWC and other stakeholders for their steadfastness and resilience which aided the repossession of the party’s secretariat from those he described as “political miscreants” led by the former state chairman, Augustine Ehiemere.
The chairman, also, reechoed the unalloyed loyalty of the party leadership at all levels in the state to Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the 2019 governorship candidate, who also approached the election petition tribunal seeking for Justice over alleged irregularities that marred the governorship poll.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, Aba North chairman, Hon. Ikeanumba expressed gratitude to God and members of the party for finding them worthy to pioneer the affairs of APGA in their various local government areas.
He promised that the newly elected chairmen would not disappoint the party given the confidence reposed in them.
Hon. Ikeanumba also expressed their determination to work assiduously towards contributing significantly to the repositioning process initiated by the present leadership of the party in the state.
