The Anambra State Command has arrested suspected killer of certain Chinasa Pauline Agbata, a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Unizik), Awka.

The 25-year-old suspect, Onudili Sontochukwu, was arrested following an intelligence report gathered by police.

News Expressreports that the late Agbata was killed and dumped at the school gate on March 20, 2019.

According to a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, the suspect is assisting the Police with useful information that could help in unravelling circumstances surrounding the incident after which all the perpetrators would be brought to justice.

The statement reads in part: “It would be recalled that on the 20/3/2019, one Chinasa Pauline Agbata 'f', student of UNIZIK, was murdered and dumped at the school gate same date at about at about 7:30p.m.

“Following the incident, Police detectives attached to the Command special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) launched aggressive manhunt of perpetrators and arrested one Onudili Sontochukwu 'm' aged 25years on the 2/6/2019 following discreet investigation.”

Also nabbed by Police were suspected undergraduate kidnappers, Kingsley Ugorji, 33 years old and Joseph Darlington, 25 years old.

The suspects were arrested at Osisioma, Aba, in Abia State, following intelligence gathered by police detectives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

A statement by the Police Spokesman said that the suspects allegedly conspired and kidnapped certain Obinna Favour, aged 18 years, on May 27, 2019, and equally kidnapped certain Amakaeze Luke, aged 22 years, on May 5, 2019.

He said that the victims who are students of Anambra State University, Igbariam, and Unizik respectively were later released by the suspects after collecting ransom.

While reeling out the exhibits recovered from the suspects to include, three handsets belonging to the victims, Mohammed said that the case was under investigation after which suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

Meanwhile, a routine raid by the Command Special Anti-Cult Unit (SPACS) in conjunction with operation Puff Adder at various locations within the state has led to the arrest of 98 suspected cultists.

While 37 out of the number were screened out, 22 were charged to court, 19 were placed under Police supervision for being underaged and forceful initiation, while 22 others are undergoing investigation.

The statement said, "On the 26/05/2019 at UKPOR axis, 18 suspected cultists were arrested. On 27/05 /2019 at Ihembosi, 4 suspected cultists arrested.

“On the 28/05/2019 at Igbariam/Nibo, 12 suspected cultists arrested. On the 29/05/2019 at Nnewi/Oba, 8 suspected cultists were arrested. On the 30/05/2019, at Ogidi/Fegge axis, 15 suspected cultists arrested.

On the 31/05/19, at Awada, 22 suspected cultists were arrested. At Otuocha/Umuero axis, 6 suspected cultists were arrested. On 01/06/2019, at Anaki, 4 suspected cultists were arrested. On the 02 /06 /2019, at Nimo axis, 9 suspected cultists arrested respectively.

Exhibits recovered from the suspects who confessed being members of different secret cult groups include 5 improvised bunkers for inhaling substances suspected to be cocain, 3 daggers, 1 short knife, 2 bags, some quantities of weed suspected to be cannabis sativa, 2 black barrets, 1 military comoflage knicker, 1 broken bottle, and some quantities of substances suspected to be cocaine.
