Pete Edochie not dead

The doyen of Nollywood, Pete Edochie, is still very much alive contrary to the news of his purported death now making the rounds across social networks.

“Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, can authoritatively confirm that Pete Edochie is alive, hale and healthy. Pls disregard the rumour about his death,” says AGN President Ibinabo Fiberesima, in a text message.

Reports by unreliable sources had claimed that 65-year-old Edochie, who is also an accomplished broadcast journalist, “died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning -

Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 50 feet to his death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm Mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. Specific details are not yet available. The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12).”

Apart from acting and journalism, Edochie (see photo) is also a brand consultant and was chairman of the Rebranding Nigeria Committee that came out with the popular slogan, “Nigeria – Good People, Great Nation.”
