Senator representing FCT, Philip Aduda
Angry indigenes of Abuja on Thursday blocked the main entrance of the National Assembly, protesting alleged killing of some residents in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by soldiers.
The indigenes are accusing the Nigeria military of forcibly taking over their lands.
The affected areas, according to them, are Iddo Sarki, Kpakuru, Anagada, Tungan Maje, Zuba.
News Express recalls that during the plenary session on Wednesday, the lawmaker representing FCT, Senator Philip Aduda, cited Order 43 and spoke to condemn the alleged invading of some parts of the FCT by the military.
According to him, “I would like us to find out what is going on and why they are doing this. They need to provide an explanation or at least give us feedback on what they are doing.”
Senate President Bukola Saraki, reacting on the development, referred the Order to Senator Abu Kyari, Chairman, Senate Committee on Defence, to look into the matter and report to the Senate next week.
