Late Hon Temitope Olatoye
The National Assembly (NASS) on Tuesday adjourned sitting in honour of the lawmaker representing Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Mr Temitope Olatoye, popularly known as Sugar, who was killed on Saturday in the heat of the governorship and state assembly elections in the state.
NASS was billed to resume plenary today but put it off till tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
Olatoye was shot by suspected political thugs in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State, and eventually died at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan.
It is the tradition for both the Senate and House of Representatives to adjourn plenary on the legislative day that follows the death of a member.
News Express had earlier reported that National Assembly had proceeded on an extended recess to allow members to participate in the 2019 general elections.
