The Special Anti-Robbery Squad Unit of the Anambra State Police Command has arrested four suspected armed robbers in the state.
The suspects, Emeka Iheanacho (25), Ekene Edeh (28), Nwobodo Kosichukwu (26), and Rapuruchukwu Obum (28), allegedly robbed one Mbazue Chizoba of Nsugbe in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state of his Acura SUV with Reg No. AAA 114 FF.
According to a statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, the suspects confessed to the crime even as the stolen vehicle was also recovered.
Also nabbed were 21-year-old Abumchukwu Obiekwe and Okoye Michael (20) of Anaocha LGA of the state.
The suspects allegedly conspired and injured one Michael Victor (28) through gunshot with the intent to rob him of his motorcycle between Agulu and Adazi-Nnukwu road on January 16, 2019 at about 7:45pm.
Weapons recovered from the suspects included one locally made pistol, five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and one cartridge.
According to the statement, “The case is under investigation after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
“In our continued effort to further stem the tide of crimes and criminality to its barest minimum, the Command has taken proactive steps through intelligence gathering, visibility policing and constant raids on criminal hideouts in the state.”
