Jonathan’s personal security: Sambo to dismantle Azazi’s structures?

Apprehension is mounting among President Goodluck Jonathan’s kinsmen that the new National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Colonel Sambo Dasuki, may dismantle the structures put in place by his predecessor to ensure the President’s personal security.

Dasuki, who assumed duty in Abuja on Tuesday, replaces the President’s Ijaw kinsman, Owoeye Azazi, the retired army general who was sacked last Friday, July 22, for failing to find a solution to the frightening level of insecurity in the country, especially the Boko Haram menace.

“Azazi made sure that he put Ijaw people in charge of Mr. President ’s domestic affairs so as to ensure his safety. We are worried that the new NSA may dismantle that structure,” said a source in the know of the inner workings of The Presidency told Transport & Business Express.

On learning about Azazi’s sack, Ijaw leaders had rushed to Abuja for consultations with President Jonathan, who was said not to have given them prior information before dropping Azazi.
