Senate President Saraki
Suspected political thugs on Sunday attacked the Agbaji quarters, the family residence of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, in Ilorin.
The thugs reportedly injured people and destroyed property in the quarters, but the cause of the attack is yet to be ascertained.
The attack on the area has been described as the second in four days as the place was reported to have been earlier attacked by the thugs alongside Adewole and Pakata areas on Thursday.
After the attack on Thursday in which four people were said to have been wounded, the Senate President addressed a press conference in Abuja where he raised the alarm about threat to his life and those of his family and supporters.
During the Sunday’s attack, thugs reportedly opened fire on residents of the Agbaji area, wounding at least 11 persons in the process.
They were also said to have destroyed about 50 exotic cars parked at various locations within the quarters.
President of Agbaji Development Association, Alhaji Musa Olanrewaju Yusuf, said the 11 people who sustained injuries from gunshots were taken to General Hospital, Ilorin, and a private medical facility for treatment.
It was also gathered that the thugs spread the violence to Ajikobi and Omoda areas of Ilorin metropolis.
Spokesman of the police in Kwara State, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the development, however, said the police were still investigating to ascertain the cause and the perpetrators.
