Anambra police spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed
A Station Manager at NENCO Fuel Station, Okpuno, Nnewichi, Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government, Area of Anambra State, on Wednesday stabbed his employee to death over a missing N40,000.
Information gathered by News Express has it that problem started when the employer, whose name could not be ascertained, told the deceased staff member to provide the sum of N40,000 which he said was missing from the company’s purse.
It was learnt that the employee had appealed to his boss to bear with him and deduct the said amount from his November salary but the Manager was adamant and insisted on the return of the money.
What seemed to be a mild drama in no time snowballed into a bloody encounter when the Manager in a desperate move to recover the said money, stabbed his employee several times with a screwdriver before he collapsed.
He was rushed to the Rose of Sharon Specialist Hospital, along Oba Rd., Nnewi, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
The Manager on hearing that his employee had died, immediately absconded from the hospital.
The body of the deceased was however taken away to an undisclosed destination by police operatives in Nnewi.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, said the headquarters was yet to get full details of the incident.
