Former PDP Presidential Aspirant, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN
Former Presidential Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Barrister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has vowed to give every necessary support to the party and its Presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to uproot the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Aso Presidential Villa during next year’s ballot.
His New Media Aide, Abubakar Sani Turaki, disclosed this in a Post-Convention message released on Wednesday, addressed to “Fellow Turakists”.
He said: “It is indeed with a warm heart I write to commend you on behalf of the KT Turaki Vanguard for your doggedness, diligence, patriotism, dedication and selfless support we have had from you over the time we have started this movement. We must say big thanks to you all for your endless commitments, hope and your faith in our political movement.
“The last ten (10) months have been a very remarkable time of our life, for the exclusive and distinguished experiences we have gathered in the pursuit of our political interest which was triggered by the patriotic aptitude and readiness of the former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Alh. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, to challenge and disrupt the status quo of the decaying system of governance and inefficient leadership by the ruling APC.
It is with no iota of doubt that, right from the first day of the KT Turaki’s declaration of interest to vie for the office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria under the platform of our great, gallant and formidable Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, we had put in place structures and well thought-out action plans that would lead us to victory in not only the primaries, but also in the general election as well. Our plans included meeting critical and key stakeholders in our local settings and nationwide consultations.
“We have travelled round the 36 states of Nigeria including the FCT and we have seen a lot. We have recorded a lot of recommendations as well as there were a lot of hitches and challenges which we have tried as hard as possible to overcome in other to clinch the party’s ticket and be its candidate to defeat the ruling APC for the collective good and interest of the country and its people.
“Our great party held its national convention on the 6th and 7th of October that saw the outcome of the former Vice President of Nigeria, Alh. Atiku Abubakar as the winner of the primary election, and as well as the party’s candidate to challenge the ruling APC come 2019 next year. It is indeed painful to lose an election contest, however, for the party’s and country’s interest, managing the loss is an easier task.
“KT Turaki did not lose the election because he is incapable or because he’s not competent rather for the collective interest of the party and the country at large. He acquired an exclusive experience. A lot of things transpired before and during the election that saw the emergence of the former Vice President as the winner.
“Part of the challenges we were faced with during the conduct of the convention were the accusation and claim that we stepped down for another presidential aspirant or we don’t have a baseline acceptance. However, he has fought to the end. Nevertheless, our interest remains the people’s interest. Our interest is to bring back power to the people. To ensure effective governance and push Nigeria forward.
“Like KT Turaki has said before, during and after the convention, “We (the aspirants) have agreed to line up and support whosoever wins the ticket amongst us. We will support the party to clinch power by 2019”. It will interest you to know that his loyalty and commitment to end ineffective running of governance, mismanagement of public properties and combating insecurity, economic and political instability remain a topmost reason why he’s supporting the party and its candidate to opt (sic) out the APC from Aso Rock by 2019.
“Also, our ardent and staunch supporters from all nooks and crannies of the country, our campaign team and Media team, it is noteworthy to thank you. We thank you all for the support you have given us during the hard fought, competitive but fair campaign we have put through, right up till the convention ended.
“To the 65 delegates who have voted for us, we thank you from the depth of our hearts for the diligent and patriotic opportunity, for the confidence, trust and faith you have rested on Turaki’s aspiration, we are indeed very humbled by the support everyone of you has given us to the end of the convention.
“Our aspirant will work hand-in-hand with the party candidate to the achievement of our aforementioned priorities, salvage the country from the hands of incompetent leaders and promote the socioeconomic welfare of all citizens. We shall work together towards realising a country with an equal opportunity for all and return the country’s lost glory.
“We urge you to keep your trust in the PDP and as well support the actualisation of promised land where river of milk and honey flow. Thank you once again.
“God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
