Veteran comedian Baba Sala (real name Moses Adejumo) is dead, according to one of his sons, Emmanuel Adejumo.

Emmanuel made the announcement in the early hours of today, Monday, October 8, 2018.

Details of the iconic comic’s death were not immediately available.

Aged 82 years, the late Baba Sala was also a dramatist and actor.

A native of Ijesha, he is regarded as the father of modern Nigerian comedy. He was also a prolific filmmaker.

“Significantly,” according to Wikipedia, “Baba Sala started his career in show business as a Highlife musician, fronting in 1964 a group known as the Federal Rhythm Dandies where he tutored and guided the jùjú music maestro King Sunny Adé who was his lead guitar player.”
