APC, senatorial candidate for Rivers South East District Ambassador Oji Nyimenuate Ngofa, has said that his choice as the preferred candidate at the party’s primary election on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Bori, Rivers State is the first step in the golden quest to give the people of the senatorial district a strong voice, adding, “this victory belongs to the people.”

Ngofa who is Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Netherlands said in his acceptance speech after the victory, “When we volunteered to offer our candidature to contest the ticket to seek election to serve the Rivers South East district in the Nigerian Senate, we had you, the people in mind.

“When we consulted our people across the senatorial district to share our vision for the district, we were clear that the people mattered to us. So, we came into this exercise determined that our people must be heard, and exactly today, the people, represented by their delegates, have sanctioned our aspiration. “They have spoken that I should go and seek further approval in 2019 to be their voice, to carry their hopes to the Senate. Truly, I am humbled by this overwhelming confidence shown today. To all delegates who spoke loudly today, thank you.

“However, today is just the first step in this golden quest to give the people of Rivers South East senatorial district a strong voice. We know the task still ahead but we believe in the resolve of the people of the Rivers South East that no more would their collective bargain be sabotaged for the benefit of one.

“As we look forward to victory in the 2019 general election, the Senate, in particular, we shall still rely on you, dear delegates and general voters, to turn out in mass and complete the excellent approval you have overwhelmingly given us today.

“I salute my-brother contestants whose participation enriched this process. Today’s victory belongs to all of us. The journey ahead demands our collective energy, and I have no doubt that we shall pull it together,” the senatorial candidate noted.

“To all the delegates who turned out in great numbers, we salute your resilience. You added to the beauty of democracy on display, together. You really made the day!

“As we look forward to campaigns and elections, we trust that the steam of today shall be sustained, and in fact, increased,” Ngofa declared.
