The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday commenced the process of picking its candidate for the 2019 governorship race with two aspirants jostling for the party’s ticket.
Governorship candidate of the party in 2015, Mr Jimi Agbaje, and Deji Dohertyare the only two aspirants in PDP governorship primary which is ongoing.
Doherty said it was important for all members of the party work with whoever emerges as the party’s candidate to ensure its victory in the 2019 general elections.
“The 2019 election in Lagos State is going to be about strategy rather than noise making. And I am sure that the strategy is going to be put in place,” Doherty said.
“Whoever wins, we are going to work together because we have a common purpose.”
On his part, Agbaje is confident that he would get second opportunity to run the governorship race.
“I wouldn’t be here if I thought I would lose. I would have withdrawn from the race. I do intend to win this primary election,” he said, stressing that he had what it takes to win.
“There is a bit of strategy in politics. The job is strategic as to how you want to go into it,” he said.
