The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend (Dr) Samson Ayokunle, has said there is no Independence Day celebration in Nigeria when Boko Haram is still holding Leah Sharibu and over 100 Chibok school girls in captivity

In his Independence Day message titled Nigeria@58: Nigeria’s Survival is Tied to Justice, FairPlay and Righteousness, the CAN President urged the government to ensure that those girls who are in Boko Haram’s captivity are released.

The CAN President lamented the growing violence and insecurity across the country and called on the government to take urgent steps to protect the citizens which it swore to protect.

He, however, urged Nigerians to ensure to use their vote wisely and vote in a leader who will cater for their needs and protect their lives and properties.
