The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Saturday’s Osun governorship election as inconclusive.

INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Joseph Afuwape, said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 254,345 votes while opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 254,698 votes.

The electoral body announced in Osogbo on Sunday that a rerun should be held in local governments where results were cancelled.

Osun Governorship Election took place on Saturday amidst a peaceful atmosphere, compared to other previous state governorship elections held this year.

The battle was strictly between APC’s candidate Mr. Gbeyega Oyetola and PDP’s senator Ademola Adeleke.

Afuwape said that since the difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes and the number of cancelled votes 3,549, therefore, no winner had emerged.

Some of the areas where results were cancelled are Orolu and Oshogbo. (NAN)
